City is a proposed 2000 hectare mixed development on Batam Island,
20 minutes by ferry from Singapore, the first stages of which are
currently under construction.
Burchill
VDM Involvement: Burchill VDM
through Coastal Consultancy International was engaged to
co-ordinate and undertake extensive physical and environmental
investigations and to prepare a Master Plan and Development Guide
document for a waterfront city of 100,000 population. The
commission included detailed planning of a first stage commercial
precinct comprising a 400 berth marina, shopping malls,
condominiums, a hotel and outdoor recreational facilities.
CCI assisted in presenting its
Master Plan to Indonesian Government Ministers and officials, and
in successfully securing necessary Government authority approvals.
