Project
Details:
A major study has been undertaken on behalf of the Johor
State Government to create a Master Plan and implementation
strategy for massive private sector led redevelopment of the Johor
Bahru Central Business District - the southern gateway to Malaysia
via the Singapore causeway.
The study area
covers the CBD of 186 hectares, extended to a new Central District
of 550 hectares.
The vision is to
capitalise upon Johor Bahru's strategic positioning by the
creation of a modern international city and financial centre.
Burchill
VDM Involvement: The
roles of Burchill VDM within the project team are in
infrastructure and transport planning, urban planning (foreign),
urban design and public communication. Urban planning and design
is being undertaken in association with Robina Planning and public
communication in association with Newtons Corporate Communicators.
The project
incorporates state-of-the-art GIS mapping and computer modelling
including extensive use of Burchill VDM three dimensional computer
modelling technology.

awarded a High Commendation in the 1997 Institution of Engineers,
